A new print and screen presentation of “Strengthening gay-men’s culture through new visual expressions”; my design project at HDK School of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg University, 2018.
A selected outtake is featured here. Produced as part of a continuation of the project into new work, as has been an aim throughout.
New writing and layout have been combined with previous work. This includes conceptual designs and artwork from experiments based in research of semantics and lived experiences, own and others, of the target group. Photography at an excursion to the Stockholm EuroPride were used as well.
Additions include reworked text not conforming to academic style but inspired by and using the style-guides from journalism for a more engaging and accessible packaging. Achieved when allowed the mindset of being able to tell a story rather than step by step accounting of events. It's also been a help towards this end; not having to use footnotes, but instead putting references in the flowing text; breaking up the text further; adding more engaging imagery and graphic design style and layout; as well as making headline and image caption choices that piques interest before reading on.
The choice of format for this initial new presentation for the ongoing project, landed on one based in screen dimensions to allow for both printing it in various sizes and to display it on a screen. A larger font as well as a landscape orientation of the pages was needed.
